Nadine Bouliane, Slipping Glimpse 2020
36" x 36" Mixed Media on Canvas. Metal Frame.
Nadine Bouliane is an artist and educator living and working in Nelson, BC. Her layered mixed media drawings and paintings employ a playful, improvisational approach to art making that balances intuitive mark making with aesthetic control. Her main subject matter is abstractions and patterns found in nature and the transitional state of the natural world that surrounds us. Nadine works with layered processes that incorporate acrylic paint, ink, graphite and pastels; she uses collage as a graphic element that responds to the design of the initial composition and prompts emerging transformations in subsequent layers. Nadine holds a B.A. and B.Ed in visual arts from the University of British Columbia and is currently completing a Masters in Art Education at the University of Victoria.
